No visit to Hong Kong is complete without a visit to one of the market streets. The most accessible of those markets in Hong Kong is the Mong Kok Ladies market situated in Tung Choi Street. Ignore the tourist guides that tell you to exit the MTR on exit E2 at Mong Kok station and proceed to exit A1, the only accessible exit from the station. An elevator will take you to street level in Nathan Road. Double back down Nathan Road and turn left into Argyle St go 2 blocks and turn right into Tung Choi St.
The Ladies Market is mainly for the women and is the perfect place to shop for clothes. Apart from the large number of stores selling ladies wear, Women’s Street is also famous for accessories, cosmetics, hand bags, various household items and soft toys. Dealing hours at the market generally begins at noon and runs until about 11.30 pm each day. The evenings can get very crowded making progress difficult for wheelchair users. Early afternoon is the best time to visit to avoid those crowds.
The market stalls and street between is wide and easily negotiated with plenty of room within the stalls as well. At the end of the market you will have to double back and leave via the same route and same station entrance.
